# Quickstart

> Your first note, canvas and published page in five minutes.

**1. Sign up**

Go to [octonote.ai](https://octonote.ai/signup) and continue with Google, Apple, or your email (we send a 6-digit code). Octonote creates your workspace.

**2. Write a note**

Open **Notes** and create one. Type `/` for blocks: headings, lists, code, an **Equation**, a **Mermaid diagram** and more. Everything saves as you type. See [Notes](https://docs.octonote.ai/guides/notes.md).

**3. Draw on a canvas**

Open **Canvases** and create one. Turn on **Auto-shape** and rough pencil strokes snap into clean boxes, circles and arrows. See [Canvases](https://docs.octonote.ai/guides/canvases.md).

**4. Put them side by side**

A **project** is one note and one canvas together. Group shapes into a **figure** and drag it into the note. See [Projects](https://docs.octonote.ai/guides/projects.md).

**5. Publish it**

Click **Share**, turn on **Publish to web**, and copy the public link. Anyone can read it, no account needed. See [Publishing](https://docs.octonote.ai/guides/publishing.md).

## Let your agent do the first draft

If you use Claude Code or Codex, connect them once and ask them to write for you:

```bash theme={null}
npm i -g @octonote/cli
octonote login
octonote setup claude --skill   # or: octonote setup codex
```

> Explain how our auth flow works, with an architecture diagram, and publish it.

See [Octonote for agents](https://docs.octonote.ai/agents/overview.md).
